The Law Offices of Reitman Parsonnet, P.C., was founded in 1982, the product of the merger of two venerable Newark labor law firms that began their practices in the 1920's and 1930's: Kapelson, Lerner, Reitman & Maisel (One of New Jersey's original Congress of Industrial Organizations law firm); and Parsonnet, Pykon & Duggan (One of New Jersey's original American Federation of Labor law firms).

We take great pride in carrying on the defense and advancement of union concerns begun by founders Thomas L. Parsonnet (who practiced law in Newark from 1923 until 1977) and Sidney Reitman, who practiced in Newark from 1937 until 1988. Our long-term clients include state, national, and international labor unions. And we have brought countless suits on behalf of employees who have "blown the whistle" on the illegal practices of their employers.

Our firm defends the rights of people who have been injured in their person, their property, or their interests by employers or others. We aggressively represent clients suffering employment discrimination and seeking workers’ compensation benefits. We have always placed our clients ahead of our profits; our attorneys could be a part of more lucrative practices, but we all choose to do this work because we believe that workers' concerns are of vital importance to our American way of life.

The firm's heritage and tradition as Newark's foremost labor law firm is carried on today by a small group of dedicated attorneys who have, collectively, decades of experience, and who have been the recipients of the legal profession's highest honors. Our attorneys are active in the New Jersey State Bar Association, the National Employees' Lawyers Association, and the National Lawyers Guild. Two of our attorneys have been selected by a survey of their legal colleagues to appear in the publication "Best Lawyers in America" for the past seven years. In addition, several former partners and associates have gone on to serve on the State and Federal bench.
